Community Outreach Programs at The Hunt's Foundation

Veteran Housing

At The Hunt’s Foundation, we believe that every veteran deserves more than a “thank you” — they deserve stability, safety, and a place to call home. Too many of our heroes return to civilian life only to face homelessness, limited resources, and isolation. That’s why our founder, Cassondra Hunt, created Hunts Haven for Veterans — a shared independent living program built to restore dignity, community, and hope to those who have served our country.

Located in the heart of the St. Louis area, our shared-living homes provide fully furnished rooms, on-site support, and a structured environment designed to help veterans transition into long-term independence. Residents are offered access to job placement referrals, life-skills workshops, and wellness resources while living in a clean, safe, and supportive environment surrounded by peers who understand their journey.

Our mission is simple — to create a home, not just housing. At Hunts Haven for Veterans, every resident is part of a family. Through shared meals, community engagement, and mentorship opportunities, veterans rediscover purpose, belonging, and pride.

This initiative is funded and operated by The Hunt’s Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to “bringing community back to the community.” With support from our partners, donors, and compassionate volunteers, we’re expanding our housing program to reach even more veterans across Missouri — one home, one hero at a time.

Summer Bash Giveaway

This annual event is free to all school-aged children (Grades K – 12). Community members will receive free school supplies, haircuts, food, and other essential services provided by local businesses and organizations volunteering their time and resources to give back to our community. This initiative also aligns with our commitment to youth community programs and veteran support services, ensuring that everyone gets the support they need. Supplies are distributed on a first come, first serve basis.

Annual Homecoming Glam Sendoff

Group of seven people posing in a cozy room with red curtains and framed pictures.

With high school senior expenses looming and graduation quickly approaching, some students may find it challenging to afford a Homecoming makeover. Each year, The Hunt’s Foundation provides holiday giveaways to offer this once-in-a-lifetime experience to a select number of students from a regional high school. These students are only required to write an essay telling their story and explaining why they should be chosen, allowing them to benefit from youth community programs that support their dreams. Additionally, the foundation is dedicated to veteran support services, ensuring that all members of the community are uplifted.

Annual Prom Sendoff

With high school senior expenses looming and graduation quickly approaching, some students may not be able to afford a Prom makeover. Every year, The Hunt’s Foundation gifts this once in a lifetime experience to a select number of students from a regional High School. These students only requirement is to write an essay telling their story and explaining why they should be chosen. This initiative, alongside other youth community programs and holiday giveaways, aims to support students in achieving memorable experiences while also promoting veteran support services in the community.

The Hunt’s Foundation, in partnership with Behind it All, has Decked the Halls and is ready to spread holiday joy with free toys and holiday giveaways! Attendees will bask in the splendor of the season with an evening filled with music, refreshments, photos with Santa, and fun games. Toys will be distributed to children ages 0 – 13 on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Children must be present to receive gifts. This event also highlights our commitment to supporting youth community programs and veteran support services, ensuring a brighter holiday for all.

This program provides veterans with a trusted guide to navigate the system: a fellow veteran who has gone through the same journey to wellness. By incorporating veteran support services, peer specialists supplement traditional care practices, such as counseling or group therapy, and work in patient-aligned care teams to meet the needs of each veteran. Additionally, initiatives like holiday giveaways and youth community programs help foster a supportive environment for veterans and their families.

Veteran Tax Filing

Working alongside Martin & Mattz Tax Services LLC, The Hunts’ Foundation offers vital veteran support services, including free tax preparation and electronic filing, to ensure current and former members of the military and their families can keep more of their hard-earned money. Additionally, the foundation is committed to supporting youth community programs and holiday giveaways that further benefit these families.

Pop-Up food pantries are single-day, mobile food pantry distributions aimed at providing veteran support services to veterans currently residing in the Hunt’s Haven Living Facility. These distributions, staffed entirely by members of The Hunt’s Foundation, are designed to increase access to nutritious food for veterans in the community, thereby improving food security. Additionally, it is standard practice for members of The Hunt’s Foundation to engage in holiday giveaways by randomly purchasing someone’s groceries while out in the local grocery store, which complements their efforts in supporting youth community programs.

This act of kindness program is designed to teach our youth the importance of giving back to the community. Through our youth community programs, children ages 12 and under can volunteer with the Hunt’s Foundation as one of our Hunt’s Helpers. The Hunt’s Foundation is dedicated to spreading happiness and supporting our tri-county family community, including initiatives like holiday giveaways and veteran support services.
